Description:

Built in 1812 by Captain Charles McDowell, the federal-style brick plantation house has been restored to its original appearance. Located northwest of Morganton near Quaker Meadows Golf Course, the home once had 1,500 acres of land attached to it. The parlor features an elaborate mantel and wainscoting while the wallpapers used are reproductions of prints from the early 19th century.

Open Apr - Nov, Sun., 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and by appointment.
